Big Sur

Seems like everything lately has been a whirlwind, but in a good way.  So much going on and so many things to do. It was nice having a relaxing weekend at home.  Sunday it rained all day and I ran 5.5 miles in the rain.  Very relaxing and refreshing run.  After that it was cleaning, studying, meal prepping and relaxing.
Some highlights:
·        Megan and I just signed up for the Big Sur International Marathon out in California.  Yup, lots of hills, but going to be the most scenic race I have run!  Time to start planning my training.  I love making training plans.  So lucky Megan and I got in when we did.  It sold out in 59 minutes!!!
·        Motivation – my sister told me this weekend that she is down 30lbs!  She said it is mainly from eating better.  I’ve been doing good staying active, but my eating has been off.  You can’t out train a bad diet.  Time to get back at it.
·        I got through the beast of the Chapter in my CPCU.  Only 2.5 chapters to do.  Making good progress.
·        Biking is in full swing.  We went out to Texas Motor Speedway Tuesday night and stayed local at Spinks Road on Saturday.  Michael did try and kill me by adding in a hilly neighborhood part at the end.  Next time, let’s do that first.

So it looks like I will be doing a few marathons in the near future.
~White Rock (Dallas Marathon) – Dec 8th – hoping for a Sub 4
~Cowtown Ultra – Feb 23rd – beat last years time (still undecided)
~Big Sur – Apr 27th – survive

Second half of the year...

I was able to hit my June Goals just before the last week of the month.  I did fantastic about getting to the gym.  Yes, I skipped a few days, including one spin class, but that is OK. Overall I went to the gym 10 days which including spin 3 (out of 4) times!  I ran over 80 miles.  For the first 6 months of the year I am at 522 miles, on pace for my goal of 1,000. And considering I am going to start marathon training this fall, I have no doubt I will hit 1,000 miles.
June Goals
·        20 Regular Push-up (no knees, no stopping) – Check!
·        90 second plank – Check!
Now the question of what to do with my July Goals.  They will not be mileage related as it is just getting too dang hot.  I have two half marathons planned, but may skip out on one.
July Goals:
·        Leg Press 300.  Currently I start at 240 and get to 260.  I want to be able to do 2 sets (10 reps) at 280 and my last set at 300.
·        Try 3 new exercises – whether it be a new class, new machine or anything.   The weighted plie squat and weighted walking lunges have been working great.
·        Finish reading my CPCU book – Currently on Chapter 7 of 11
Now to just get my eating back on track
